The Day After Yom Kippur

Now I know what it’s like
To have Him sitting in front of me
Breathing my air
Seeing my thoughts
I can’t hide a single emotion
It’s terrifying-
Liberating
A heavy blanket wrapped around my shoulders
A softness and warmth
Of which I’m constantly aware

I’m not sure what happened first
If I started pulling at the stitches
Or if the threads came loose
On their own
But I’m colder now
Lighter
I miss the feeling
But I won’t approach Him.
I don’t know how long His
Lingering scent will envelop me
Or what I’ll do if it fades,

For now I’m stranded outside
Without a heavy blanket
I’ll build a shelter here,
To survive
Until He weaves me back
Into His arms
Or I’m ready to come
Back inside
