Walk past my lips
into my lungs
through my veins
into my soul,
where letters howl
behind a locked fence,
ivy and wildflowers sneaking through.
Climb the walls
over the moat
through the gates
into my soul,
where a letter sways
in David’s fortress,
her lilting voice bouncing
against each layer of stone, tell
me what she sings to his harp.
Jump over the stones
down the well
through the water
into my soul,
where letters float
in the reservoir,
boiling and cooling the water all at once.
Take me out of the world
into its center
out of myself
into my soul,
where the letters smile
in the mirror
silent and booming all at once.
